I called NY State of health marketplace. A guy who said his name was Thomas Williams claimed he was an agent at the enrollment center. He took all my info, proceeded to find me a plan, which he did. It was with Blue Cross Blue Shield supposedly. I paid online and my payment was accepted, obviously. Im pretty sure he gave me the website where I can pay but I honestly cant remember. After several days, I spoke with an insurance navigator at my health center who said they dont accept Blue Cross Blue shield. So I need to cancel that policy and find another one affordable within my means. When I tried to cancel, it took me at least 7 calls to contact someone. I told them I need to cancel, they put me on hold while they get an agent and never picked up the phone again! This happen several times. The other times they just put you on hold right away. A supposed supervisor named Ethan, said he would cancel the policy and issue a refund. That was on March 1st. I still have not seen the money. After making multiple phone calls to NY State of Health, and there was NO record of my account or policy. They informed me that BC/BS would accept payment if any. I called BC/BS and they had no record of any policy opened or closed under my name and info. Finally after trying to call the enrollment center again, the message kept saying business hours and leave a message and thats it! I finally thought of putting the number online thinking I can get the name of the company. Thats when I saw the Better Business Bureaus info on the scam. While reading it I realized I was a victim of a scam. Please do your research, get a call back number and check it online and ensure that its legit. Be diligent when hunting for health insurance. Scammers are working overtime so should we!
