I was contacted by a scammed who claimed they wanted to purchase my vehicle i had listed for sale. They said that they wanted a vehicle history report and would not accept the carfax report I already had. They sent me a link to Goldenstatevin.com and I purchased the report. I sent the report to them and I never heard from them again. I googled it and it's a scam. They do this for 1 fo 3 reasons, to boost the websites sales, to use your credit card information fraudulently, or to sell your credit card information to a 3rd party on the black market.

I put a car on craigslist and a person contacted me.

They wanted a vehicle report so I said I would send them a carfax. They asked if I could use this company instead. I did. Then I never heard from them again. I am sure they just took my money.

Same experience in Colorado. Same email, no phone number. Same scam idea. They really wanted me to use mountain vin. I provided them with the CarFax report and they still pushed. They even used the SAME EXACT EMAIL! That's just lazy...

Got a text from my vehicle listing on Craigslist. Seemed promising. They asked for vehicle report which I notified that I already had one, they asked me to use a specific website (goldenstatevin) and as soon as I looked it up I came across this page saying it was a scam. Same texts as they sent others, and same phone number. First time selling a car so I almost fell for it. Ended up sending them a screenshot of this page

100% a scam

had an experience exactly like the one above. i sent over a full carfax report that i paid out of pocket to pull, and this person kept pushing this site over text.

the scammer will be responding to your craigslist listing. they will say they and their husband checked out a car in (your city) but it “looked nothing like the pictures”

i sent a text saying “im not going to pull a report on this website. i just sent you the carfax”

they responded with “Send it to me here once you got it
[email protected]

Thanks!”

California Car Buying Scam! Scammer texts responses related car on sale via Craiglist. Scammer starts conversation and used the following language on his texts: 1) Awesome then that report should be 100% legit at goldenstatevin.com and ill come over tomorrow with a money order or cashiers check or cash if you want... will come to you in the next couple of days if you will run a vehicle title check on it for me please. 2) spouse and I are just paranoid because Last week I went to see a similar vehicle in sacramento from craigslist and it was nothing like the pics and had a salvaged title... 3) We will come to you in the next couple of days if you will run a vehicle title check on it for me please.... Last message) Once we can see a clean VHR we’d love to schedule a time to come check out the car ?? We can pay cash too if you want. Thanks!! Lmk! My email is [email protected]
