I heard about a job opening for a data entry position for a medical marijuana pharmaceutical company that would be strictly work from home on a fb yard sale group. They mentioned great pay and flexible hours so I messaged the woman who advertised the job opening. She told me to install Google Hangouts and email the HR representative, so I did. After a few messages back and forth, I noticed some grammitical errors, but since the company is based in Canada I didn't think anything of it because the possibility of using Google Translate since some parts of Canada speak French. Then as the messages continued, the woman started changing the job description. First I was told that I could make my own hours as long as it was 20 hours a week, then she changed it to Mon-Fri 2pm-6pm. Then when she "interviewed" me, she only asked about 4 questions and then all of the sudden I had a job. Then she mentioned how I would start training once I had all the software materials needed to work for the company and she claimed I would be paid for it by depositing a check into an ATM so I could buy the software with their money. That's when I just blocked her because everything sounded too good to be true and then just started sounding way to fishy.

I reached out to someone on Facebook regarding a job opportunity with a marijuana company. After speaking to him, I was informed it was an at-home position in data entry. I was contacted by the "company" via the Hangout app through google. The HR manager's name and photo matched the company's website though she had a different job title on the website. It seemed too good to be true and a few red flags arose throughout the conversation. One being the odd broken English and typos (odd for an executive). Another being that I was required to purchase a $50 google play gift card. Next they would send me a check for $2950 to use towards the purchase of a laptop and printer and other supplies. But those supplies needed to be purchased by their trusted distributor with a cash deposit which also struck me as odd. When I questioned it, I got vague answers and was told it was to show my trust and commitment to the company. That's when I got suspicious and started searching scam warning blogs and sites, including the BBB. All of the conversations I found were way too similar, so I knew it was a scam even though FSD Pharma, Inc is a legitimate marijuana company in Canada. I contacted them via their website and was informed it was indeed a scam because they don't hire data entry positions off site. The scammers didn't give up when I called them out on the scam though. They were persistent and stuck with their story and informed me to check out their website (which is a real site since the company is real). I was then told the next day that the HR managers account had been hacked and I would be contacted by another HR representative. When I was given the same scripted text as the previous manager, all I stated was that I reported them to the BBB, and I never heard a response back. The original FB user only had 1 picture and a new account which has since been deactivated by FB for being spam. Be very careful! If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I almost bought into it until the check cashing part. I even informed them to send me the check but I would wait 30 business days before using the money to guarantee it was legit (because I was very sure it wasn't). They agreed. They are very persistent and persuasive.

Thank you for this review.I just ran into this same scam and you helped me out with this info. I joined “Florida Jobs Hiring” group on FB and this lady posted a job and I answered. She asked me if I had Google hangout and had me connected with a Devin Michael.I knew it was a scam. She was very persistent and persuasive as well. Company name was FSD Pharma LLC. Her name was odd and should’ve known and not reply to the post. Her name was Diamond Pearl Etiz Mhiz. Wanted me to connect to Devin right away on Hangout. I messaged him one time about the position and it was very automated. It says “Welcome to FSD Pharma LLC” She said the same thing at first. He asked me for my name, age and location where I lived. Then I did a search and found your post so I blocked them both. Fb,Messenger and Hangout. What a waste of time..good thing I didn’t go very far with this “interview.”

I just barley had a very similar experience. I required to buy an Ebay gift card but stopped after that. The Facebook post seemed to be legit though, so I’m not sure.
