My son wanted a ferret and none of our local pet stores had any in so I went online and found a breeder that ended up being in Georgia. The breeder showed me pictures and gave me information that made her seem legitimate. She even showed me screenshots of satisfied customers who supposedly adopted ferrets from her. She wanted me to use Apple Pay to pay her, but I wasn’t sure how and couldn’t get the payment to go through. When I was searching, I saw that it did not have buyers protection, so I did not continue to pursue using Apple Pay. I have PayPal and know that PayPal has buyer protection but she said she didn’t have PayPal. When I persisted, she finally said her sister has PayPal and then I could send it to her sister. I sent her the payment, but she said it was pending and didn’t go through. However, since I had sent her the payment. She said she would go ahead and make plans to ship the ferret to us. The morning she was supposed to send it, she gave me the tracking information. I had already gotten the company name that she said she used and also checked them out and they seem to be legit. Although I did message them and they didn’t reply to the message to ask them if they had dealt with her before. The ferret was scheduled to be delivered by 6 PM on September 18, 2024. When I checked my phone at 3 PM to make sure everything was on schedule I saw a notification from the shipping company saying that we needed to pay them $200 for insurance before we could get our delivery, but then the money would be given back to us. No reputable shipping company is going to bring your delivery halfway and then demand money to finish the delivery. They said if we refuse to pay, they would just send the ferret back to the breeder. We refused to pay and told them to go ahead and send the ferret back, I have screenshots of all the conversation between the trucking company and the breeder. I would like to file complaints on both companies, but I know the trucking company will probably have to be filed separately. If there was insurance to be paid it should have been collected before it was picked up from the breeder. The breeder also should have informed us of it. I believe the two companies are either working together to scam people or it’s the same people running both companies.
