I was approached on LinkedIn and asked to participate in an industry survey. I’ve done these types of things before. They usually pay out a couple hundred dollars. This particular interviewer asked ridiculous questions, I thought it was absurd that they were willing to pay to conduct such research. Following the interview, it seemed that they were refusing to pay me unless I provided them with my direct bank account information. They mentioned PayPal, which I said was fine and I gave them my email address in which they could send a PayPal. After several months, I still have not been paid. I occasionally receive solicitations for job and industry related matters. I believe that they phished my information and they’re using my cell phone number and my email address to send targeted messages. I believe that they were also hoping to acquire my bank account numbers, which I’m glad I did not give them.
