I use indeed.com to search for jobs. I got an email from a personal email address from the person claiming to be HR for ECAS Consulting pte ltd. This is an actual Singapore based consulting firm. The email asked me to send a google hangout message to a person in the HR process to begin the "interview" process. Every aspect of the interview was done through messaging. Some things that made me suspicious during the alleged interview were questions like Who do I bank with and how long? The pay was offered at 35.75 per hours, $22 training, all benefits including discounts, health, dental, 401k. In about 30 minutes a message was sent back via hangouts that I had been hired. I was then asked to add more info such as my address, phone, email address. I asked questions about an official offer letter, website information, an online application where this information could be entered. The only response I got was that everything they did was "legit and they believed in god and do not steal or cheat". I am sure this is not how an actual company such as the real ECAS would verify their legitimacy.

I gave a fake address and phone number just to see what the next step would show. I was sure I had heard about this scam before when I was told: I would be sent a check to purchase all of the office equipment I would need to perform the job. I immediately told them I would be flagging my account for any fraudulent activity and reporting to the BBB.
