Received a phone call at the restaurant I work for stating it was our electric company dp&l claimed the bill had not been paid in 2 months and the truck was currently dispatched to disconnect. I called the number back and a recording stating it was dp&l sounding legitimate. Once they answered they gave me a case number and transferred me to a manager who told me I must pay the balance in person at a cvs or rite aid with a bill pay card. Credit card overthe phone or checks would not be accepted. She took my cell number and said to call before I purchased a card to make sure it was the correct card. The whole process sounded fishy to me. Our restaurant has a corporate office that handles all utilities so I contacted them. Obviously our bills were up to date and they were just trying to scam us. 1388 dollars was the amount. They called my cell number back and I stated I knew it was a scam and they hung up on me. They called a second time stating I authorized them to shut off the electric. I again stated it was a scam and again I was hung up on.
