We are an architecture firm and received a message from a person claiming to be a potential client for a large house. We've gotten these emails before via our webpage and he's successfully scammed several firms in the NYC area, so we've known not to get involved. The scam works like this: He promises a large project with a large fee but refuses to meet in person and pressures the firm owner take a credit card number for immediate payment of the full project fee. He then gives a list of sub-contractors (engineers, surveyors, etc.) that he wants the architect to work with and asks the architect to process his payments to them. The subs get paid and he then cancels the project. At this point the cash has left the architect's account and the scammer calls the architect to cancel the project and demands the architect pay back the money. A few days or weeks later the banks contact the architect and hold them liable for processing the payments and it's found out that the credit cards were all stolen.

We're reaching out now because the scammer is using the email address "[email protected]" to look for new victims.

The email we received is as follows:

"My name is David , i will like to do full renovation and furnishing of my new home. full gut renovation, 6 bedrooms, 3 kitchens, 3 living rooms, 2 dining rooms, etc. - overall 26 areas designed and remodeled, a mix of top, middle, low brands (from Moooi to Ikea) and replicas, a few specific custom made pieces of furniture, full finishing, furnishing and decoration. Kindly get back to me with your estimated rate for your services and also advise if you do accept credit card for payment also the merchant you use to charge Yours David
