A job listing for Dog Walker was listed on Indeed for the company Cuddly Tails. I applied directly through their app, which charged me $25 to my debit card for a background check. On November 6 a user “Adkins B” sent me an offer to watch their dog from 11/7/22 to 11/11/22, claiming they were in Dubai and it was an emergency. They never confirmed my booking though, which is how I would be guaranteed payment of $160. Their address was listed in Hillsboro, Texas but they claimed to live in Harahan, LA. They asked me to reach out to someone that prepares the dogs food that “mixes medication and vaccines” into the food at (413) 367-7902, who said it would cost $1750. I told the “pet owner” this and they asked what bank I used. At the same time I had a second user, “Levit B” requesting a dog sitter from 11/8/22 - 11/12/22 who also has an address listed in Texas.

I attempted to call Cuddly Tails 24/7 hotline, where a message from someone with a thick accent said they were unavailable.

The online reviews for this app on the Apple App Store look bizarre, with bizarre fake names and five star reviews such as “canine eating right dog food” and “CuddlyTails is popular software and their running additionally too true” which makes no sense for a dog walking service. Upon realizing this was a scam I immediately deactivated my account and had my bank dispute the $25 charge for the background check.
