This is an LLC Safety Poster Scam. Trying to make small businesses pay $109.75 for a poster that is free on the OSHA website. Sends an intimidating letter that looks like a bill.

Hello, I’m a new business owner and I received a letter from CF Division Services stating that I needed to pay a “periodic” State Fee and Filing Fee. Well, automatically this raised my suspicion because I wasn’t told this at the start of my business, soo I reached out via the email provided and immediately received an email back stating that the email didn’t exist, that’s the second red flag. Besides the email provided there weren’t any other sources of contact, no phone number, no nothing. I live in Colorado and also started my business here and anything that I’ve ever received through the mail has been from the state of Colorado and this document was sent from Florida. Another red flag is that it constantly states that the letter is a “non government document” but then you’re being asked for money with no way to contact the company asking for it and it’s not from the government.
Another thing to pay attention to is that most bills will usually give you 30 days at the least to make a payment/contact, i literally just got this letter 8/26/22 and they requested I pay by 8/31/22 which is a ridiculous short notice. lol this is a whole scam please contact your Secretary of State or whoever helped you get your business started if something seems fishy.

Deceptive Letter Scam

Received this letter. I know posters are ENCOURAGED, but since we don't plan on hiring this year (as I indicated in various paperwork), I knew this was bs... especially from Florida when we're in Iowa.

However, a different business might not think twice about paying "yet another bill". Scary stuff.

Urgent looking letter from C F Division Services saying that labor law posters are required or one could pay "fines in excess of 7,000 per instance" and a mail by date.

As I understand it, these posters are free and while encouraged for small business with less than 5 employees, they are not required in my state, which is Iowa.

They mail an official looking letter that warns you to file an annual report with them (small text says they are not a government agency. Then they try to charge you $165 for the filing service that you can do online for $10. They say you have to respond to them by Aug 10 (1 week later). Makes it look like its compulsory and quite aggressive.

The C F Division Services Company was just created in 2021. They send you a paper that looks official and try to trick you into paying them for services that you can do yourself just by going to your Secretary of State website and taking care of your own Entity for your business. Don't fall for these letters, do the work yourself and save yourself $! Plus, you don't know if this company will actually do the work they say they will and you risk your Entity name being expired by going through a 3rd party.

I received the same letter everyone else got. “Federal law” requiring a poster to be hung in the place of business. I was curious bc it said I was an “LLC” which isn’t true. Then another friend (in the sense business) who just renewed her business license received the same letter. We are in MD why would anything for a MD tan business be coming from a Miami PO BOX?. After reading the statements… these people, if they are going to scam others.Learn proper grammar and punctuation. Hope they fry.

Im going into my 3rd year of my business and have never gotten this letter before. The thing that caught my attention was the expiration. August Y July and it literally states they are a non-government agency. Sounds very fishy. The website [email protected] doesnt exist and no phone number.

Just got the scam letter

Just got the scam letter telling me to post a labor law poster for $105 from the labor laws of Miami FL and I live in OKC OK? I knew it was fishy because my home is my business address so why would I need to post a labor law poster in my house and I'm the only employee? If it came from OKC labor law it would have look more legit. Why they think everybody is stupid and live in another state and gotta comply with Miami FL labor laws are beyond me so I emailed them and gave them my see on their scam. BEWARE.

I get letters from them all the time. Either wanting money for the labor law posters or that they want money on behalf of my state.
1) posters come from the DOL - federal agency, and I have no employees or Home office.
2) my state issues filing notices directly. The bottom of the letters have you sign a waiver releasing them form liability for collecting for your state. Ridiculous.
