Comparaction.com Reports & Reviews (1)

My parents are on a fixed income. They are under contact with their current provider for a home phone which includes long distance as part of a bundle of other services. There is more than a year left on this contract. The long distance on their home phone has been taken over by ComparAction. My parents didn’t know who ComparAction was until after their long distance had been cut off. They discovered what had happened after they contacted their current provider to find out why their long distance wasn’t working. It was then my parents were informed their current provider had nothing to do with it and couldn’t fix the issue. My parents are now forced to deal with ComparAction even though they have paid their current provider (the one they have an actual contract with) for a home phone including long distance.

My parents never agreed to become customers of ComparAction and did not receive a bill from them prior to having their long distance cut off. A bill from them did eventually arrive. The monthly cost for a home phone including long distance from my parents’ current provider is cheaper than the bill ComparAction sent for just long distance.

I’d like to know under what circumstances it’s believable that anyone would agree not only to pay twice for the same thing but to pay more the second time? Because that’s the situation my parents find themselves in. My parents – who are on a fixed income – are still paying their current provider; and are now being billed by this random company for long distance. For my parents to get long distance on the home phone again (something they are already paying their current provider for) they would have to pay ComparAction to reactivate an account they never wanted and never asked to have in the first place. In addition, if they don’t pay, they could be sent to collections.
