The scammer claimed he was ABC Carpet & Home and came to my apartment on Friday, January 27 at 10:21am to inspect the Persian hallway carpet (32 inches by 15 feet and seven inches) that I needed to be cleaned. He said that because of the condition of the rug, he needed to have the carpet sanitized, treated for mildew, scotched guard, deodorized and add a padding underneath. He convinced me to have another Persian rug cleaned as he thinks it also needed cleaning. He said it would cost me US$4,210 for both rugs and said that he preferred to pay cash. He said that if I paid with a credit card, he will need to add an additional 8%. I ended up giving him a credit card number and he left with the two carpets. I decided upon checking ABC Carpet Cleaning's yelp reviews that this guy, Nick is a scam artist and called him to cancel the cleaning. He said he that the carpets were already in the process of being cleaned and too late to return them. I told him I still was within the cancellation period and wanted the cleaning cancelled. He said that I still had to pay him 30% of US$4,210 if I want to get my carpets back.
