ZIM Transportation Reports & Reviews (2)

- Cypress, TX, USA

"Zim Transportation" reached out to me 3-4 weeks ago with an offer that I knew was too good to be true. A quick phone interview was red flag #1. Bonnie Lamb was her name, and she went through the phone interview so fast that I never once got to ask a question about the position or the company. The next morning i received an offer to be employed for a 1 month training which would be paid. I just needed to complete several "case studies" and then two to three "practical projects".

The case studies were fairly basic. I actually googled one of the questions because it seemed pretty generic and found the website where the "training" materials were copied from. My gut really told me something was wrong when the use of my PERSONAL credit card for the project was required. Why would a major company need my personal credit card. It would never happen at a real company. so i started digging.

I found the real website for Zim (zim.com) which is a legitimate business. The scam uses zimtransportation.com. Also, the real zim uses email addresses with us.zim.com or zim.com... Scam uses email addresses with zimtransportation.com

These are the following individuals who reached out to me either by phone or via email from "Zim Transportation"

Brenda Whitehead (originally said she was with Yusin): used email addresses [email protected] & [email protected]

Bonnie Lamb: [email protected]

Stanley Malone: [email protected]

David Holmes: [email protected]

An elaborate employment scam, ZIM Transportation offered a very lucrative job opportunity to become a supply chain manager. Over the course of two weeks of e-mail communication, they stated they performed a background check followed by a phone interview and then submitting a job offer for 1-month of employment as a contractor that would then lead to full-time employment. Compensation was said to be $90K-110K/yr for the full-time opportunity and 3K for one month of temporary employment during the trial period.

After a brief phone interview, I was very surprised to receive an offer of employment with no face to face interaction, so I set out to determine if this was a real opportunity or not, researching the company on Google.

- There are two websites for transportation companies named ZIM. One is legitimate (zim.com) and the second is the fake (zimtransportation.com). It was confusing that two companies in the same industry would operate using the same name.

- The company logo came from Zim Labs, which is a medical company located in India - found this logo on Glassdoor.

- The four people that were identified as ZIM Transportation employees do not have a social presence on LinkedIn and while their website claims to have 1,200 employees - there are none on LinkedIn

- Addresses provided on their website - their European HQ and the main office is located in Rheda-Wiedenbruck, Germany, and the specific address appears to be a semi truck parking lot with a couple buildings that is surrounded by farming country. Just did not add up for a supposed large company.

- Visited BBB.com and read advice to look up information about the website domain and when it was started whois.icann.org and learning that the website was established by a company from Kiev, Ukrane on 3/11/2019.
