A loud blaring alert locked my computer as i tried to access my email. The screen said to call a number (which i did not retain) to get unlocked. I called and a voice (with an East Indian accent) said this was Microsoft & that my security was not strong enough. I provided my charge card # to purchase added security. Three aps were loaded on my computer and it was unlocked. I felt very uneasy about this transaction, so i took my computer to a retailer who i do business with and the person helping me confirmed that this was a scam,worse the scammers would call me back. Prior to this i alerted my financial institution. They said i would have to wait and file a dispute. After the dispute was filed, the financial institution worked with me on getting my money back, which took over 5 months. The charge was $321.25, which i paid. In the meantime during the 5 months i was harrassed by unknown callers. One call resulted in a message telling me something was wrong with my computer. I had to change all my passwords and charge accounts.
