Zephyr Management L.P. Reports & Reviews (1)

I received an email from a person named Jennifer Walters for a job offer at Zephyr Management L.P. This person told me they found my resume on my university's CCO (center for career opportunities) website. In the email they said that they were hiring people to start a new office in my hometown. The email also informed me that per their "newest on-line screening introduced by ScamPulse.com," I was required to set up a Google Hangouts account. I did and I contacted Mrs. Kathleen Livingston ([email protected]) as I was told to in the email and we started talking on google hangouts by text. It seemed a little bit odd because, considering the company, this person was very unprofessional. I was told to contact them at 8am my time the following day on google hangouts, but I didn't get a response until 10:30. The google hangout conversation was all text. Also, they didn't seem to have a good grasp of the English language. There were a number of red flags that went up: first they didn't seem to know what position they were hiring me for, they kept asking me questions that they find the answers to in my resume, and they also told me they would send me a check to help me build a "mini-office" until they had the real office set up. The second day of contact, I was told to contact them at 8am again, and again they were over an hour late in contacting me. When they did get in contact on google hangouts, "Mrs. Livingston" sent me an employment form which was a basic employment form. Which, if they had my resume, was mostly redundant. After we talked about that for a bit, I was told that some of the "other candidates" were "making partial payments" to increase the speed by which we could receive the equipment needed to set up our "mini-office" because the "check processing could take a while". This was when I decided this was a scam. I cannot think of any company that I want to work for that asks for money before the employment actually happens. I started asking questions about the company, like size, internal structure, services offered, opportunities for advancement. The response was that it would all be on the Computer that I was supposed to be getting for the mini-office. I was advised by people I trust to cease contact with these people.

The initial email I got invoked the ScamPulse.com to give the message some legitimacy. That email came from:

They also told me to turn my employment form in at: [email protected]

Finally, they wanted me to cash the check they were going to send me (if they were actually going to send one at all) and then buy the equipment with that. They did give me the choice of direct deposit or having a check sent for the mini-office supplies. I wasn't about to give them my bank account number. This seemed remarkably convoluted.
