Used google to find customer service phone number for YouTubeTV. Found a number 1-844-677-3223 & tapped on it. Later after I realized it was a scam I checked the number. Apparently after I tapped on the phone number (1-844-677-3223) a different phone 1-866-234-0235 number was called. That’s when I was connected with the scammer. I explained I was having trouble with static, watching my shows on my new service with YouTubeTV. He reassured me that he was going to help me troubleshoot to correct the problem. However, he said a few things that didn’t make complete sense with what I was asking. Then he told me he had to have me send a verification number in order to verify the account. But first he needed my name and number to be verified. I told him my name, and gave him my phone number. Then he proceeded to give me instructions to go into my App Store and tap on my icon. I was beginning to become very suspicious that something was very wrong. Then he told me to tap on the gift card tab. I said, why would I be tapping on a gift card time I’m not sending money. He then said look at your phone you’re sending an email to yourself. You’re just verifying your account. It was very confusing and for a minute I wasn’t sure if I was being overly suspicious or was this may be a legit. But then he proceeded to tell me to put $500 in the amount and asked me if the dollar sign showed up and I said yes. He stressed that the $ must show up that’s very important. At this point, I knew I was definitely on the phone with a scammer so I hung up the phone without saying anything. The scammers are getting very slick and catch people off guard. This is the second scam that I almost got caught up in just in the last couple months.
