YouTube TV Reports & Reviews (1)

I was trying to help my mom reset the location on her YouTube tv. Her internet had been out and it wouldn't find her. We had this trouble when she originally signed up. I was able to get it working that day. Yesterday it was taking awhile and I wasn't having any luck fixing it. I googled several suggestions to fix it, but they didn't help. I was running short on time, as I had a meeting, so I saw a number listed for help with YouTube TV. The number listed was 888-682-3241. I just pushed on the number as it was a blue hyperlink and didn't notice that it rerouted me to another number. The number I was rerouted to was 888-922-1830, I spoke with a gentlemen who said his name was Henry. He asked me several questions and asked me who else used her account. I said it was only her. He said he could see that there were several other people using her account. He had me look at her I-phone and go into it and had me tell him what it showed. I believe it was in the languages section. Besides the United States, it also showed Canada, Europe, and a few others. He had me look at her I-pad and it showed all of those things plus Russia, Arab Emirates, and several more. At this time he told me she had been hacked. He had me go into another place in her settings and scroll to the bottom and told me that someone or more than one someone had used her information to make purchases and they hadn't hit her account yet, but he could help me stop them. He had me go in on her phone like we were going to start a report with Apple to stop this from going through. He had me go into her phone and do some things and put in an email address that he gave me. He had me put in her name in the from and then asked me to put in her debit card information. I told him she wouldn't do it. He told me the hackers already have it so it wouldn't matter, this would stop it. I told him she wouldn't do it. He put me on hold and his senior manager Olivia came on the line. She explained why this needed to be done to stop these hackers. She gave me back to Henry who wanted to get my mom's debit card again. I still told him she wouldn't want me to put it in. He gave me back to Olivia. She told me if we wouldn't put in the debit card there was another way to fix it. She had me go to Walmart and buy Apple gift cards. She told me not to disconnect from her she would stay on the line and be with me all of the way through this process. She explained to me how important it was to help my mother and it was important to her to help my mother as well. When I got in the store and found the gift cards, I was going to buy a $25 gift card. She said that would not work. It had to be the $10-$500 gift card. She told me to buy the gift card for $500 and go back to my car. When I got to my car she had me take a picture of it and send it to 804-408-7655. She told me that this would get everything cleared from my mom's phone and she wouldn't be able to be hacked. Once I did that she put me on hold. She came back and told me that took care of the hackers in New York, Texas, and another state in the US, but didn't take care of Canada or Europe. She told me I needed to go back into Walmart and buy another Apple card for $1,000 to clear the codes for Canada and Europe. I told her I couldn't do that. She said I had to so this would be taken care of and my mom wouldn't be hacked. I told her I couldn't. She told me she would put in a $500 card to clear one code if I would go in and buy another $500 card. Once both cards (hers and mine) were put in it would clear the two codes and they would refund my $1,000. She said she would even put in $50 and I would get back $1,050 for all I had been through to take care of this. She said you have my personal number, the 804-408-7655, you know my name is Olivia, my badge number is YTB00M41, and I'm in my office in California. I went back in and purchased another $500 Apple card. I felt sick. I felt sick for my mom and for myself. I purchased the card and sent a photo of it to the same 804-408-7655 number. I did ask her why her phone number showed Charles City, Virginia when she said she was in California. She said it was her personal phone and she was from Virginia. She put me on hold and then came back and told me there was a problem and she was transferring me to her manager. I responded that I didn't know the senior manager would have a manager. She said she did. A gentleman came on the line and said he was Senior Manager Henry. I told him I already spoke to a Henry more than once before I spoke to Senior Manager Olivia. I asked if he was a different Henry. He told me he was a different Henry and that Olivia's card wouldn't work. It was a card that she got for an office promotion. He said it wouldn't work because it wasn't bought in my region. He said the card had to come from my region to clear this last code. He said I needed to go in and buy another $500 gift card to clear the code. I told him I would not. I told him I could not. I told him the two codes being cleared was good enough and I wanted my money back. He told me that until the case was closed my money could not be refunded. He said it "might" be able to be returned to the gift cards, but he didn't think so. I told him the money on the gift cards would do me no good. I told him I have no Apple products. He said I could give them to my mom. He said the only thing I could do was go in and buy another card or hang up and end the call and lose my money. I told him I was Not going to buy another card. He said then hang up. I told him I wanted my money back. He told me the same thing, go in and buy another $500 card or hang up. I hung up. I called the number back. I asked to speak to Olivia. She got on the line and told me the same thing, that I needed to buy another card to close the case or I was losing my money. I don't remember if I hung up or if she did. I called back again. I got a man named Alex. I asked for Olivia. He asked who was calling. I told him Debbie. He said I can see your information here, did you get another gift card. I said no and I wanted my money back. He said the only way to do that was to buy the card. I said I wasn't going to and he hung up. After this I looked at the number on the google listing for YouTube tv and noticed that when I pushed the link the call went to a different number than was listed. I called my bank and asked if they could stop those two $500 charges on my account. I spoke with Rachel at First Robinson Savings Bank. She said they couldn't be stopped since it was used to buy cards. She didn't think they could get into my debit card since I was only asked for the last four numbers, but she recommended canceling it, which I did. I personally dialed the 888-682-3241 number. A man answered. I didn't understand what he said when he answered. I asked who I was speaking with and he said YouTube, I asked for Olivia and he said only men worked there. I hung up and called back. I was told the same thing. I called back a third time and when he answered I could tell what he said wasn't YouTube, I asked him what he said and that this was the number listed for YouTube tv. He said why do you keep calling, you need to quit calling and he hung up. I went into my mom's and gave her phone and Ipad back. I told her I'd been robbed of $1,000. She called a local computer repair person and told him what happened and asked him to look at her phone and Ipad to see if they had been hacked. I left because I had somewhere else I needed to be. I called a friend on the way and told her what happened. She said I needed to call the sheriff. I was passing through Palestine when we were talking and two police officers were parked in a lot by the road I was on. I pulled in and told them what happened. I told them I was sure I was out of luck and should have not been so stupid. I thought I was smarter than that, but I never knew you could be scammed when you call someone. I thought usually they called you or emailed you. He said since my mom and I live in Robinson, I would need to contact the Robinson police. He also suggested calling the toll free number on the Apple card. I called that number and spoke with Jessica. She said she could see the cards had been redeemed. She said there was nothing she could do. She said she could turn off their account. I said that was a good idea, maybe it would help someone else. She gave me a case number and said I could call back and give that case number with the local law enforcement if they wanted to talk to them. She said she sent me an email with all of the information from our call. I never received the email, but I do have the case number. The case number is 102069742207. The phone number is 800-275-2273. I also have a case number from Henry supposedly from YouTube TV, but it is on an envelope at my mom's. I called the Crawford County Sheriff's Department. I told the dispatcher I needed to file a fraud report with the Robinson Police Department. Officer Nicklaus returned my call. I told him what had transpired. He told me there was nothing they could do. I don't know if the Apple girl was really from Apple, when I asked she said yes, but what would you say if you weren't, No?! She seemed like the real thing and didn't ask for any personal information except for my email address. The only thing the person that I first spoke with, who was in technical support asked was my phone number and she said it pulled up my account. I feel stupid. I feel violated. I'm sure my mom thinks I'm an [censored]. I was concerned since they had my cell phone number I saw that it could be used to hack me in other ways such as rerouting texts or emails and getting personal banking information. I called my local Verizon store. I spoke with Ashley and she said it should be safe. She said I should change my google password. She said I could change other passwords if it made me feel better. She said to be sure to use a secure password that contained uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special symbols. When I got home last night and looked up YouTube TV, the number that was listed earlier in the afternoon that I clicked on was not there. I thought about the Better Business Bureau today. I tried to call, but the office was closed. I was given the website information and came here to file this report. I have the sleeves for the Apple gift cards purchased, the gift cards, and the two receipts. I didn't upload them because I didn't know if you would want them.
