Your Local 411 Reports & Reviews (12)

Call to say invoice overdue, then they use recording of employees voice spliced in to say they have authorization to make a contract. When I call the number to say they have never had a contract with me they are very rude/abbrasive and say that it is my employees mistake and that I still need to pay for advertising that I never signed a contract.

In October of 2017 our business was contacted by telephone and asked to confirm our mailing address. When the information was given the caller asked if she was authorised to provide this information and asked to provide her name. Two weeks later we received addressed to our street address an invoice for $499 plus tax. I sent a letter on October 24, 2018 explaining this was not authorised and we did not did any more advertising. We continued to receive invoices addressed to our street address even though our actual mailing address is a box number. (We have very helpful postal workers in town and puts incorrectly addressed mail in the correct company box. This time, not helpful.) We have continued to receive monthly invoices. I spoke the customer service manager and told me I would not pay. I have emailed them and told them I would not pay. In March I contact the BBB We have continued to receive invoices by mail and email and telephone calls requesting payment. Last week we have received an invoice for double the amount plus service charges for late fees, totalling $1,121.25 and stated the have reported our account to Credifax. Recently the telephone calls have been very rude. Today, May 31/18 we received a call stating we owed Eleven thousand dollars and if we paid it they reduce the invoice to the original amount but if it was sent to collection we would have to pay the full amount. How do I stop this harressment?

this company called our office, spoke to the receptionist and asked to confirm our address. Then asked her name. Since we are a dental office she had no way of knowing why this person was calling. A few weeks later we receive a bill in the mail for a local listing $499.00 for 6 months. As we had never ordered this service i didnt do anything with the bill. A few weeks later they call and ask to speak to our receptionist (the one that gave her name) She explained that she never ordered the service and then they played back a recording of her conversation confirming our address etc. She told them she was not paying the bill as we didnt order this service. Another bill arrives in the mail so she emailed them explaining again that we are not paying the bill. They then called and I spoke with them to straighten this out. I told them we didnt order the service and then they again played the taped conversation of our receptionist. I told them she had no authority to order anything and that they should be ashamed for colluding her into saying something that she was not aware of. They argued with me so I hung up. Today I received another invoice saying they were sending our company to collections. I called them, no answer so I left a message. They called back and again played the taped conversation of our receptionist. This is a scam and this company needs to be stopped. There is probably alot of people that would pay the bill not even realizing what it is.

They contacted my office during the day and asked my staff to approve their service and trying to ask for approval as if we had the service initially. When I called to cancel, they ingnored us and now trying to send us to collection and charge us for two terms. They record this conversation to use as proof that the staff approved their service. Then they wait 3 months later to send you an invoice that you have no idea what it is. They charge $564.99 for this service for an online listing. How absurd.

A continuous stream of invoices for past due bills made out to the company for a 6 month listing in another persons name for which no agreement, contact or otherwise was made.

On November 20, 2017 I opened an invoice from a company called yourlocal411 (Invoice ***) dated November 1, 2017. It is for a 6 month listing for the amount of $499 + GST. I sent an email to the company noting that I did not authorize this listing and requested that both the listing and the invoice be cancelled.

Later that afternoon I received a phone call from someone at the company. They offered to cancel the remainder of the invoice but I had to pay for the first month. I said I didn’t authorize this. They said my staff *** did. I said she is not authorized to do that. They then played me a recording of their call with her. In the recording they introduce themselves as being from Your Local 411 and they are calling regarding a new listing and they want to confirm our business information. They ask if she is authorized to do that. She says yes. They have her provide our business address etc. They then tell her that they will invoice us for 6 months for $499 and ask if they should direct the invoice to her or accounts payable. She says accounts payable. I object to their methods and still refuse to pay this invoice because they make it seem like this is something that was previously set up and she just needs to confirm the business information. They did not ask if she was authorized to purchase an advertising listing on behalf of the company. In my opinion they manipulated her using underhanded sales techniques. She is not authorized to purchase any advertising and I will not be paying this invoice. All advertising should be directed to the owner or the advertising department, not the first person to answer the phone. The person who called me back was defensive and accused me of being defensive and rude. Anytime I tried to state what I felt about the conversation with my staff member, he interrupted me. I finally said, let me speak without interrupting. He still cut in so I hung up.

Yesterday we received a past due notice from this company. Our business is still listed on their website (note** my second grader could make a better quality website, not worth what they are charging) even though I asked in writing for it to be removed. I looked up this company on the ScamPulse.com website and they have an F rating. There are over 50 complaints, all relating to inappropriate sales tactics.

I answered a phone call from Your Local 411 and the representative stated where she was calling from and that she wanted to verify our business address for an EXISTING online listing. The rep. stated our business address and I was asked to verify if it was our correct address, in which I said "yes." The rep. then thanked me and stated our listing was now updated in which the phone call ended.

Some months later, our business received an invoice for $499.99 plus tax for a 6 month listing with this company. I called the number listed on the invoice and got a voicemail for some women's cell number, where I left a message, asking to call me back. The head costumer service, Jason Roe, called back who explained that our business had authorized a 6 month contract for an online business listing with Your Local 411. I explained to him that nothing was ever authorized and then he proceeded to play a recording of the original conversation that happened between myself and the rep. who asked to verify our business address. The recording was completely altered. It had me stating "yes," in several different parts of the recording, making it out to sound like I was authorizing this 6 month contract. At the end of the recording, the rep. went over cost information for the 6 month listing and explained an invoice would go out, which NEVER happened in the original phone call. I explained to Jason Roe that that did not happen and that I was confused by the recording. He proceeded to say that I had authorized the contract and that our business was responsible for payment. I explained that they weren't going to get payment as no contract was authorized and that vocal authorization, over the phone, cannot be legal. Jason was very rude and pushy, explaining they receive vocal authorization from all kinds of business', all the time. By the end of our conversation, Jason stated that our listing/contract will be cancelled and he'd adjust our invoice cost to $87.50, for the one month our listing was available for. Later I found out that this scam was happening to several other business' and there had been many complaints and horrible reviews left on the facebook page of Your Local 411. I've tried to contact Your Local 411 again and only had the option to leave another voicemail. My message was never returned. Since then, our business has had several other phone calls from Your Local 411 trying to scam us in the exact same way. If this business was in fact real, wouldn't there be a record of our business contract with them, so why do they continue calling? Our business recently received an over due account invoice with a total of $499.99 once again and also a voicemail was left stating we have an over due acct. I feel like I was taken advantage of here and refuse to pay any money.

This company calls businesses trying to sell their 411 directory service. When they phone, they use very tricky wording making people think that they are calling to update an existing listing. There is no sales pitch of any kind. At no point are any rates, policies or price packages discussed. There is no mention of any money having to be paid until AFTER all the business information has been already given to them. They then send an invoice, usually totalling over $500. Nine times out of ten, they are "selling" to people who have no purchasing authority. This seems to be intentional, no matter how many times they say it isn't. They also do not provide a written contract for the purchaser to sign.

When this company is confronted, they try to turn everything around on the consumer. They will play recordings of the sales call to try and scare you into paying the bill. They will also threaten to put the bill into collections, saying that the consumer's credit will be ruined if they do not pay. The caller is always rude and talks down to staff members. When a staff member ends the call, they will continue to call multiple times in a short time period in order to get a staff member to talk to them.

They will continue to harass businesses even after being sent a cease and desist letter.

They contacted us one day after we had signed our business up with YellowPages and Canada 411. They knew our receptionists name, and already had all of our business info.

When telling us the price, they said 5-6-9 instead of $569 which sounded like an account number and not a cost.

We received an invoice in the mail, chock full of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.

A rep named Jason continues to call our business and tells us that we "can't hide from him" and threatens to send us to collections. He will often call 6-10 times in a row and clog our phone lines all at once - that's when he actually calls during business hours. We don't have caller ID so this is extremely frustrating.

He played back the recording of the initial phone call to us, yet there was never any notice that the call would be recorded. There was no contract, no signed papers. No fax.

Every time you call it just leads to an answering machine, there is no automated menu.

The address leads to a *** *** in Woodbridge. This is extremely stressful for us and we've contacted the police but to no avail. Please take these guys down so that others can avoid their scam.

There was a mail out to business addresses in the mail first saying that we need to update our local 411 directory mandatory. Then they called to say that they are just updating the 411 directory. The cost is 499 and then I confirm $499 and then they say no it is just $4.99. It is a one time fee to update the directory of just $4.99. Then I agreed because the price is so small. Then in two months down the road the invoice is for $499 plus tax. They will call back and only play back only the confirmation part of the sales call. They skip the first part of your conversation in the auto-recording about the details and the $4.99 price. It makes it sound that you agreed to every thing at the 499 price. They are very careful with the words and what they say in this part of the call.

This company called asking questions about our business - name, address, name of staff member (with spelling). Then we received an invoice for $500 for an online listing on their website that we never approved.

My receptionist received a call from "your local 411" asking if she had authority for the company. She said " I think so" which she does not. A week later I received an invoice in the mail for a listing on "your local 411" for $524.99 with no quantity or date range. The invoice date March 27,2017. I phoned the company on April 03/17 and said I am cancelling this invoice, my receptionist did not have authority. The guy I talked to said they have been advertising for a month and we still owed $87.00 which is not true. I said my not paying this invoice and he threaten me with legal action. My receptionist got on the phone said "sorry I didn't have authority and I thought you guys were from the yellow pages". I will post if I hear any more.
