Last year December 2017 I received an email from Walmart saying they had a secret shoppers job opening. I replied and gave them my name and address and cell phone number, They answered me quickly through text message. Asking for my ss#, which I did not give them, they said they had to verify that I was who I said I was, we went back and forth about them wanting my ss# I told them to send me information through the mail, making sure it wasn’t a scam. They finally gave up and stop texting me. So now September 28, 2018 I get a text message saying I was selected to be a secret shopper for Walmart. And they would be sending me an envelope with instructions through FedEx, I recieved the envelope and assigned today, September 29, 2018. It said to go to my bank and cash the check $2450.99 and purchase $2100 worth of eBay cards, scratch off the back of the card and send clear picture of cards and receipts along with evaluation via text or email. My pay for the assignment was $300.00 and $40 for gas and $10.00 was to be donated to a charity. It sounded to good to believe, but I was excited to recieve this opportunity. So here is what I did, I told my daughter about it and she quickly looked it up on the internet and said it’s a scam, don’t cash the check. Furthermore we called the bank on the Check to verify funds, the teller was very nice and said that the check was not a valid one. And to call my local police department and make a report through BBB. So that is my story and now I know that emails are scamming lots of people, who believe they can make some extra money, through secret shopping. Too good to believe!!!!
