They called from a number that ID said WAS Xcel Energy (in fact, calling the number back connects one to the actual Xcel). An automated voice says that services will be shut off in the next 30 to 45 minutes due to nonpayment, but this can be avoided by pressing "1" and making arrangements with a specialist in their "billing and claims" department. However, when "1" is pushed a completely different automated voices asks you to hold "while you are connected with one of our pollsters". I have reported this directly to Xcel Energy and apparently I am not the only one as they now have a warning about the scam on the phone system.
