I discovered 'Xavier' on Craigslist after inquiring after a home rental in Portland, Oregon. His claims to have been relocated to Texas were suspicious, so I asked more questions and further red flags popped up--dodgy spelling, overt focus on the 'story' wy he couldn't be there, as opposed to details about the rental. I searched the home address and found it for sale on Zillow. He had copied the photos and the text from the original add. The latter of which was actively being sold by Zillow agents. I called him out, saved and blocked his number and flagged the ad.

This piece of [censored] guy was trying to rent me a house located at 3860 vista grande dr San Diego 92115 then I find out that the house wasn't his, that house is for sale and belong to someone else, be careful.

Seemed like a real thing because he created a lease agreement and signed it himself. Got scammed out of $1,450. Used multiple emails from different people claiming they were his attorneys and landlords.
