X Box Gift Card Scam Reports & Reviews (1)

On Sunday, August 2nd 2020, a caller identified himself as "John Williams" whom proceeded to threaten my mother that if she did not purchase 7 X Box gift cards that 72 online hackers would have all her financial information. In order to purchase online security, John Williams had advised my mother that he would need over $300.00 in gift cards to ensure her online safety.

The scammer voluntarily provided a call back number of 253-387-5550 once she collected the funds requested.

About an hour after this phone call, another was received demanding over $2,000 of gift cards to rectify a supposed credit card purchase of a laptop computer. He advised my mother that if she paid those funds that Amazon would not send her to collections for the purchase. My parents do not have an Amazon account, nor did they purchase a laptop. He asked my mother to verify the last 4 digits of a credit card in order to "verify" that she would be able to purchase gift cards.
