WSI Net Advantage - Yakima Branding Reports & Reviews (1)

I was asked to connect with a Kevin Dean from Yakima Branding over LinkedIn. He wanted to meet and tell me more about the business and see if I’d be interested in any design opportunities. We set up a meeting at a local Yakima coffee shop after he said he was flying in from San Jose California to meet with clients and look for designers. He asked for my phone number, in case he ran late to meeting.

I researched his business in San Jose and the Yakima Branding company in Yakima. They seemed official. Their was even a logo from a local company and I’d gone to Highscool with someone affiliated.

At the meeting he brought his sales associate , Farren, from Ellensburg. They seemed nice, but meeting was very casual. He bought me a coffee. The sales rep said she was a new employee. Kevin had lots of information on the company to share and yet looking back I found I did not really learn all that much about it. Farren mostly talked about her two daughters . When I asked her about her role she gave little information except she worked with the Kittitas and Yakima region. When I tried to ask more Kevin spoke for her.

Kevin asked me to put together some samples for a client and that he’d pay me. It would be a way to see if they liked my work…. He then asked for my email. He sent the description of work and samples of what had been created for the client before.

The samples were poor and important details regarding the work were missing.

He sent me Samples from both his “businesses” emails….but the details were not right. There was no branding or Design in his email signature and the company’s Facebook reflected bad design and very little engagement even though followed by legitimate local businesses. Though I didn’t do any work for them… they were convincing… my feeling is they get people to create “jobs” for them to be used for something else… or they get the designer to believe they’ll get paid and potentially scam that way. Maybe they will try to misuse a phone number and email… I don’t know for a fact it is a scam, but something doesn’t feel right.
