They send me a very legitimate looking email that seemed to have everything that is required by law for any website to meet gdpr and privacy laws, ect. But in the email it said I have been nominated to receive a small business best of e-commerce award for $2200 and free consultation with an seo optimization company and also private sessions with a coach to help my SEO and a way to get legitimate backlinks added to my site. I thought it was suspicious because I haven't even finished adding all of my products to my website. I have been working on diligently for the past year trying to figure out what I am doing because I honestly have no clue, still a year into this rabbit hole of building a website for my retail store. The point is I thought it was incredibly weird that my unfinished site would be nominated for such an award but I have been working so hard on it I wondered well maybe it is true. The email said I just had to fill out a free application to be eligible to win. I clicked the application and it was asking for my personal and business info which I thought was probably normal but then the application was not actually free and that it would cost me two payments of $250 to be entered in the competition so at that point I immediately closed it out and blocked the sender after unsubscribing from their mailing list.
