Among local help wanted ads on a local Facebook group was an ad looking for weekly cleaning of their home. It sounded very fake and the "wife" 54023 texted me saying she and her husband were moving to the area for a year to help with the COVID situation. A couple of days later I receive an obviously fake check sent via FedEx for $4950 (just a check with nothing else in the envelope). Low and behold, just moments after I opened the FedEx letter I receive another text message, this time from "the husband". He was asking about his wife providing me with a tracking number and I didn't let him continue after that. Anyway, just thought I'd report it because it was ridiculous and very clearly illegal/fake. They never got a chance to get into the next phase of asking me to deposit the fake check and redeposit it into another account, etc. because I informed them that I was well aware of what was going on.
