On 9.15.19 I travelled up to Solvang California to enjoy some wine tasting and decided to purchase a room as I was enjoying myself. I logged on to Priceline and chose the Wine Valley Inn & Cottages located in Solvang. I paid for the reservation in full with my u.s. bank debit card. Upon arriving at the location there was no one at the front desk, when she arrived I expressed that it was difficult to find the location because there wasn't much signage and they did not have a parking lot and she was very rude. Then I asked because it seemed like it may have been an unpleasant stay, and it was difficult to locate, what the options would be for a refund. The front desk attendant said "because I purchased through Priceline that it would be a third party and they take no responsibility." I decided to go ahead and continue with my check in and at that point she started saying you have two choices "to not check in" or "to not check in." I made it clear to her that I did not want the refund and wanted to proceed with my check in. I have made online reservations and stayed at many hotels in the past and never been denied my ability to check in or use the reservations that I had made and paid for in full in advance. I ended up having to leave and drive to a hotel up the street luckily they had a room available and I had to pay for an entirely different hotel room that night. Upon contacting priceline.com. Evening through their online chat they discontinue the conversation and did not acknowledge that I did not receive what I had paid for. There was no reason to not allow me to check in when I was there and have paid for the room in full. I tried to file a police report, but they said "it's a civil matter." I tried to file a credit dispute, but they said "I already agreed to Priceline's Terms & Agreements" when I paid in full in advance, not anticipating to find a disgruntled employee who would not allow me to check in when I already paid in full in advance. Now I have gone back to Priceline.com and tried to file an escalation through their customer service and they "take no account accountability and cannot assist me in the matter now that I resorted to filing a credit dispute." Although I only filed a credit dispute because when I contacted their customer service online they ignored me and denied helping me. This has been a huge mess and Priceline has not mentioned that they will not take the Wine Valley Inn off of their website which appears to be selling rooms that they are not able to accommodate. She also tried to call the police on me, however at the time the police have not followed through charging me with any of her allegations. I had to deal with them arriving at the 2nd hotel I had to go to a pay to stay that might and also made a complaint with them about the theft of the room, which they deemed to be a "civil matter." They employees of this hotel are using blackmail to force its unsuspecting patrons to not stay and not be eligible for a refund. This as a disaster.
