Found a camper for sale on Facebook Marketplace that was a great deal by a Deborah Perkins. My husband wanted me to inquire about this camper that was such a great deal, which I had a 99% idea of where it would go. When I clicked on the link to contact the seller, an email came up for an Erica Willows. [email protected] (1st red flag). I received a very long response back stating the camper was in storage in Columbia SC at this Westyn Professional Logistics and she had prepaid storage and shipping fees for National delivery (really??!!). Her husband had passed away earlier this year and she was in a difficult situation and forced to sell it (more red flags). This is a $100,000+ camper selling for $15,000 (tons of red flags). She asked for our name, address and phone # to give to the company to contact us which I gave her to play along thinking we could make arrangements to physically see this camper in person. They contacted me right away this morning via email and requested that we wire the money, upon which the camper would be delivered to us in 3 - 7 days and if we were not satisfied, we could request a refund and they would come get the camper (seriously?!). Erica emailed me later wanting to know if I was sending the money today. Fortunately, in my line or work, I see similar scams way too much for comfort. I tried to search both Deborah Perkins and Erica Willows on FB, of which both have more than 1 profile. I imagine the real Deborah and Erica have no idea their names are being used as part of this scam (or at least I would hope they aren't). If it sounds too good to be true, it is! NEVER BUY anything from FB Marketplace if you aren't able to see what you are buying in person or if they want you to wire funds. Once the funds are wired, they are gone forever. My biggest fear is they will try to use my information to scam someone else.
