- Springfield, OR, USA

I joined a puppy adoption Facebook group ("Labradoodles for adoption"), for which Kristen Leah Beasley is an admin. She made a post about puppies for adoption in February, at which point I almost attempted to adopt a puppy, but decided against it when payment issues came up. The following month, she reached out to me via Facebook messenger with pictures of a new litter of puppies who were available for adoption. We communicated for several weeks, during which time I made a $350 deposit payment on 3/28 via Venmo, a $250 payment for a vet visit and microchipping on 4/8 via Venmo (different recipient account, since the first one wouldn't accept another payment), and a $220 payment for delivery on 4/12 via Venmo (same account as the second payment). During the process, the delivery date kept getting pushed out, Kristen didn't answer questions about the process, adoptions contract, and withheld next steps until a payment was made. On the day of expected delivery 4/14, a woman named "Janice" - who was supposed to be the puppy nanny during transport - reached out with a picture of the puppy in transit and said that a $700 payment was required for travel insurance and crate rental and that $500 would be reimbursed to me upon arrival. We communicated via text; her phone number is 970-329-2752. I eventually learned that Kristen's and Janice's phone numbers were both Google Voice numbers and neither of them ever answered my calls. Because of payment issues on 4/13, Janice "missed her flights" from Louisiana to Eugene and rescheduled flights for the next morning. She told me she would be arriving between 9-11 on the morning of 4/14. Janice texted me "good morning" around 6 a.m. on the 14th, and then I never heard from her again. I called and texted multiple times throughout the day with no response. I sent messages to Kristen via Facebook messenger. She responded the morning of the 15th after I called and left her a message. She asked what was wrong and to hold on a second. She then didn't respond to any of my messages or phone calls the rest of the day. After I sent her a screenshot of her website - where it indicated her business has a 100% success rate with puppy deliveries - she blocked me on Facebook and kicked me out of the Facebook group. One of my friends had joined the group on Friday the 14th; the following Monday, the 17th, my friend sent me a screenshot of the same puppies Kristen had reached out to me about, indicating that they were 6 weeks old and would be ready for their new homes at the end of the month. I've attached screenshots with the Facebook message she had sent me originally and the new post in the group. I had tried reaching out to another one of the admins of the group, who feigned anger about Kristen being a scammer, but then stopped responding to my messages, and Kristen remains an active admin in the Facebook group and her post is still live.
