Western finance financed a $169 freezer for $450. Once I received the final bill it was $950.

This company sent me a check in the mail for $1500 and made it very clear that it was a real check that could be deposited now. However, if the check were to be deposited you are inadvertently agreeing to a loan of $1500 with an APR of 88.35%. This is a blatant attempt to scam students into accidentally accepting a loan to cover items for school at criminal interest rates. What makes this even worse is I have no idea how they got my information. I have never applied for a loan yet this company had my full legal name, address, the fact that I am a student, and my credit history. The fine print also gets more appalling the more you read. The terms of the loan include a clause that the loan company can, at any time, demand you pay the full amount due in the loan immediately. This company is nothing but loan shark that preys on the vulnerable and should not be doing “business” with anyone.
