Type of a scam Online Purchase

I had been on Keltecweapons.com and clicked a link to purchase their new pr-57 pistol. When I did I was taken to the website westcostsecurity.com. I did a quick search for the PR57 and their price was comparable to everyone else’s so I started to purchase. Started the process and was offered a small break. If I paid in Bitcoin. Sent them the the Bitcoin requested and order was secured.

Received a phone call from the seller asking which FFL things were to be shipped to. I gave them Rural King at Logansport, IN.

Received an email shortly thereafter with the shipping information and was given a link to check tracking atlanticexpressmoves.com with a tracking number of, WPC090698045185-CARGO

Have received emails and texts from both companies. Shipping company contacted me day before delivery was to be made and told me I had to come up with $250 for a permit stamp that was needed because of being flagged in inspection station. Was told that all but five percent would be returned. Never having dealt with that contacted the seller and they convinced me to send them the $250 using the previous Bitcoin address.

Had been anticipating delivery all day when I received yet another text from the shipper claiming they need $1,500 for insurance again. Contacted seller initially through phone, another red flag went up for me then when speaking with them that it was very obvious English was a second language. With no explanation part way into that conversation I was hung up on. Then through text and email they’re claiming they’re going to take care of it.

At that point I did a search for gun scams and found out that this is their classic scam.

I would not have questioned this seller since clicking on a link from the manufacturer took me to their site. Clicking on that same link now takes you to guns.com.

Have contacted the county sheriff’s office here at Peru Indiana to file a report. And am also still receiving texts from the seller.

As of 3/14/25 the westcostsecurity.com website is off line but the atlanticexpressmoves.com was still active
