I received an unsolicited phone call from 800-432-1000 during which a heavily accented caller claimed to be calling from the Wells Fargo Threat Department and stating that two transactions had been flagged on my account. I asked for the caller's name and phone number and the caller hung up. When I searched the phone number on-line, I discovered that it belongs to Bank of America Fraud Department. Someone or some entity has obviously hijacked this seemingly official number with the intent of scamming account holders. It appears similar scams have been directed to Band of America account holders which would be more difficult to detect given that the hijacked number is actually a BoA number.
