Type of a scam Employment
On Tuesday, May 23, I received an email from Mary Rivera at Well Plus Health Care ([email protected]) saying that I had been selected for an interview for a job. I had not applied for a job with Well Plus Healthcare but they found my email address somehow.
She asked me to download a chat tool at chatwork.com/WellPlus and to add Mark Highley, their hiring manager, as a contact.
Highley and I chatted via text on Wednesday, May 24. He asked me a bunch of typical interview questions such as why should we employ you, do you work well under pressure, what is the greatest quality and employee should possess etc... He said he liked my answers and that I was hired for a Content Writer position.
They then sent me paperwork to fill out such as a W-4 form, which asked for my Social Security Number, and an application. They also asked for a copy of my Driver's License. I was told to send all of this info to [email protected]
Highley then texted me a list of equipment I would need to buy for the job and said the company would provide me with $12,000 to buy this equipment. It seemed excessive for a job as a writer.
I then received an envelope from UPS (next day air) with a check for $6,900 from Heffler Contracting Group and a letter from John Lewis that said, "Kindly proceed ahead with instructions given to you by either your supervisor/Hiring Manager, once the check is deposited to your account it is required for you to send an attachment of Clear Photo pics or scan copy of the deposit receipt."
Highley had texted me the tracking number for the envelope that contained the check and it matched the number on the UPS envelope.
I then called Heffler Contracting group and they said that they did not send me a check and that this was a scam.
I then sent a text to Highley explaining that I was informed that this was a scam and he did not reply.
I realized at this point that the job was a fake.

Type of a scam Employment
I was searching for entry level jobs on zip recruiter and found a position with a healthcare company in St. Louis MO. It was an easy apply job so I hit send just to see what happened. They immediately got back to me and not too long after contacted me that I was able to have interview on the app Chatwork with a recruiter. I downloaded the app and had a text interview with this recruiter. He never called me, I never heard his voice we just talked over Chatworks messenger and after the interview I was shortly offered the position because they urgently needed the position filled. We talked about how I would need to set up my home office because this would be a remote job and since I didn't have the funds to pay for the equipment needed, they said that the company would cover the cost and send me a check in the mail to pay for the equipment. I haven't signed the paperwork they gave me yet but I feel like this is a scam. I will upload the employment letter they gave me.
