Initially, I was contacted by "Eyda Marquez" concerning a remote data entry clerk position on LinkedIn with their messaging system. She informed me that they were interested in me for the position and to send my resume to an additional email address- [email protected]. I received a response from that email, reading as follows:

" I received your message regarding the Data Entry Clerk position but unfortunately the position has been filled by another applicant. The same position will be open for an additional applicant by 1st week of July because we are looking to employ 2 applicants for this position but due to Covid-19 we will only retain one staff member at the moment. However, I have a Personal Assistant position which you can attain now and transition to the Data Entry Clerk position by 1st week of July as you are the only other qualified applicant.

As an entrepreneur, I am constantly on business trips out of town. As a matter of fact, I am currently in Toronto at this moment and I will be returning on the 20th of July. I need an efficient personal assistant that can handle some of my activities in my absence. We can talk about the possibility of us working together longer after my trip, provided this job is done efficiently.

This personal assistant position is a simple job and does not require any special skill. It is a remote position and flexible part-time job, you can be in any location doing all the tasks. Also, it won't affect you working in another

job. This opportunity is perfect for someone who is honest and can offer services such as receiving and forwarding mails, paying bills, replying emails and printing invitations for exhibitions, and running other general errands. You will work on the average of 20 hours per week, and I will start by paying you $900 per week which will rise to $1300 depending on how effective you are. Usually, each assignment will take you about 30 minutes - 1 hour to complete depending on your ability. All expenses and taxes will be paid by me including your weekly salaries and bonuses.

The personal assistant job is a temporary position that could possibly be a permanent one for you based on how you deliver your duties, we'll talk more when I am back and you can be part of our successfully growing company. You will have the choice of transitioning to the full-time Data Entry Clerk Position when it is open in July as I stated earlier, Or continue working as my assistant for the long term depending on your choice.

After this, "Charles" asked me to answer some interview questions via email and not through a telephone interview, because he was far too busy. They were answered and then the last email sent was as follows:

"Thanks for providing answers to the questions. I am offline on an urgent assignment, this is the main reason why I need a PA. I am happy to inform you that you have been employed temporarily as my personal assistant, all necessary paperwork will be prepared and made available to you as soon as I'm back, and I will make plans to meet with you after my trip.

My accountant is overseeing my other business audit at the moment, I have instructed her to set up an expenses account for you as soon as the audit is complete. I will make the account available to you once it is all set up and ready to be used. You will be using the expenses account to pay bills and also withdraw your weekly pay as instructed.

Moving forward, your home office needs to be set up and I've already discussed with our authorized distributor to make all the necessary office equipment available to you. You'll receive the equipment listed below which you'll be working with on the job:

A virtual training will be provided to you on how to use the software programs just to guide you through so you won't find them difficult to work with.

I'll instruct my accountant to make funds for the equipment available so the distributor can ship the equipment to you next week. However, the distributor advised that they are only accepting payments via money order due to the current restructuring of their company and transitioning to a new financial institution. So, The check will be issued from our Sponsor company (Universal North America Insurance) and it will be mailed to you via UPS to be delivered on Tomorrow. The Funds will include your first week's pay of $900, Funds for tasks, Funds for your working equipment. Once you receive the payment, you're to get the money order from the post office and send it to the distributor so they can proceed to deliver the office equipment to you after receiving payment.
