Posed as president of my property members association of which we are both officers and used the name of our treasurer, also. The "president" requested I make a payment for website services in the amount of $750 because treasurer was unavailable and had to be done now. As a small organization, having no credit card, at times individual board members pay bills and are later reimbursed so this was not out of the realm of reality. The "president" gave multiple ways to make payment all of which I don't use (cash apps) and I finally sent a wire transfer made through my bank to the recipient's name in the email through the bank listed in the email. The real president was alarmed when I sent text stating the wire sent. Which was when I finally realized I had fallen for a scam. Tried to cancel wire - was too late. Tried working through my bank and receiving bank to resolve but was told nothing could be done - I was out $750. A day later, the same source emailed asking for more money and then emailed asking for a phone number to call me. These last two requests I ignored. The emails and names the source used came from our neighborhood website on which the officers of the board are profiled with address we use for business related to the property owner's association. Came to our attention that the source had reached out to other board members, but they were smarter than me and didn't respond.
