I was reached by text message of a company (Webasto Group) finding my resume on indeed.com and wanting to do an interview for a remote job, which is what I have been searching for. I was asked to download Telegram, a private messaging app. They then proceeded with an interview by message that lasted over 5 hours. It was very real questions and very real details about the company. They even sent a link to the company website. Every detail on the business was legit. The company is real and the names given for the hiring hr were also real. The email address used to send information seemed real as well. After the interview, I was told to reach back out the following morning at a specific time for further information on the offer, which I got. I was given details on hours, how my remote work would be, my pay and benefits. So on. Then I was asked for my address so I gave my husband's work address. I was sent a task by email (write a very detailed report on Ways to Attend to costumers in an Organization) and was told I would be doing tasks daily until I began work. Which required home office equipment and software. The company would send me a check (red flag!) that I would use to buy the equipment needed, from the vendor the company chooses. I was not given the vendor name yet but definitely some scam of my own money or money laundering. I reached out to the company through my own research and explained the situation to check if this was real. After sending screenshots as well the company explained how they do not reach out through private messaging apps nor ask for equipment to be bought and to report it. So, that's what I am doing. Too good to be true, is always correct.
