I was on the computer seeking a recipe; computer went blank and a large red ! appeared with a remark following it;" Do NOT shut off this computer; it will cause further harm to it". Call 1-855-232-1923 for help. I did; they said who they were; told me I was being Security breached and said they would help me. After a few minutes of her scrolling through the computer and 'cleaning' out the breach, she then said I needed a firewall and told me they can install Firefox; they then gave me options; $299 to install the basic, which I would have to 'refresh' every month, or pay $399 for the advanced one which automatically refreshes monthly. They were very polite, informative, and helped explain the whole problem and solution. I gave them my credit card number... I then find out through a friend who happened to call 30" later to say Hi, that this is a scam... I then looked up the Better Business Bureau and sure enough; It was a scam! Apple Computer, Inc. confirmed this when I called them after I accepted the scam deal... If your computer acts up like this; just shut it down immediately! It's a scam!

As I was using my computer, the screen froze with a solid red screen and an alarm sounding off. I tried to close my computer down to no avail. A small message box came up at the bottom of the screen saying my computer had detected that I had been hacked and to call a phone number to get help. I hesitated but felt desperate so called. A man with an Indian accent answered. I questioned his credentials and a screen appeared giving his name and company name. He assured me that Web Help Network works with Microsoft to provide support to customers. A screen appeared showing several computer- related company logos. One I remember seeing is Cisco. The contact then verified my name, address, email, and phone number with me. He asked me what problems I was having and then told me he is only a Tech 2 and so would need to hand me off to a Tech 3 person to fix my problem. The second person, “Larry”, also had an Indian accent. He asked about my problem and then said if he could look at my screen he could find the problem. I agreed and my screen turned black and pages of white print appeared showing how many times I had been violated over the past several months. The total invasions numbered over 6000. Larry assured me he could fix the problem and it would cost $599.00 to fix. I felt trapped and then agreed to the work. Larry told me it was okay to hang up my phone and he would call me in about an hour with the system fixed. He called back in about 45 minutes. The icons that I normally see where now in view and there was also a list of new ones off to the right of the screen. Larry asked me to test my email, online searching and all seemed to be working well. I was then passed on to another man with an Indian accent for the billing. This man informed me that besides the $599 fee there were state and federal fees that had to be added so my final bill would be $799.00! At this point, with the work done, I felt I had to agree. I gave him my VISA card information. The representative assured me that the deal was better than I thought since it had not been mentioned that Web Help Network will now protect my computer and any other computer I purchase into the future. At this point, this person warned me about hackers and that I should always depend on his company and that there are false reviews online that say his company is closing and untrustworthy. After we hung up I began to be very uneasy and so started searching online and found that Inwas dealing with the Hackers the whole time! I have lost almost $800.00, had to close my bank account, spent hours and hours calling creditors and others who I have written checks to. Had to change multiple passwords also. The stress has been overwhelming and I am not at the end of this 6 days later.
