We received an invoice in the amount of $180 via postal mail for yearly web hosting. It looks like an invoice with a number for billing inquiries, and boxes for past due notification, and it is sent with a return envelope. It specifically states the amount due is 80.00, and looks very much akin to a doctor's bill. But, if you read the fine print, it states that it is a solicitation for goods or services, not a bill, invoice, or statement. The intent to trick people into thinking they owe this amount is very clear. When you call the billing inquiries number, they have suspicious robots on a loop with no way to talk to a person, except to leave a message. After doing a simple search online, they seem to be targeting small businesses.

Just checked my company's mail and there is a letter/invoice with no markings on the exterior of the envelope.

Inside is an invoice slip with an amount due and a date due for next month. Pre-written amount of $180.

The entire letter reads on how to make a payment via the phone or online. it isn't until the 3rd or 4th paragraph/bullet-point down that they have in bold lettering "this is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due" however, I consider this fraud as that is the only indicator in the entire invoice stating this is not a bill. This was created to mimic a real invoice and therefore it's sole purpose is to trick/fraud companies into making a payment.

Received what appears to be a legitimate invoice - however I know who services our website & it is not this company.

We received a fake invoice in the mail. Not a service we've ever used or a name that was even familiar. This is the second one in two weeks we've received from fake website hosing businesses.

I got this fake bill in the mail. Claiming they are hosting my website and an amount of $180 is due. So I looked the company up. They look like a real company, but I knew they are not. I checked the better business bureau and found out they are fake. BE WARNED.

they sent this to my business as an invoice. see image.

This is the second time we have received what appears to be an invoice. We have never done business with this company yet they make it appear it is a renewal to keep our website active. If you read the fine print it's actually a solicitation for services but they really make it up to look more like an invoice. Very shady!

Web Host Agents sent me an invoice for hosting our web site. They do not and have never hosted my web site. The web address they used on the invoice is accurate so someone in a bookkeeping department who is new might just pay it without question.

We received a letter in the mail to our company which at first appeared to look like an invoice with an "Amount Due" of $180. It made it appear that our company website will go inactive unless we pay the $180. "Failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration date may result in website outages and a loss of your online identity making it difficult for your customers to reach you on the Web".

This is a scare tactic for someone who is not familiar with IT/networking or Internet knowledge to pay the invoice else they will lose customers. This type of advertising should be banned.

We got a bill from Web Host Agents for $180.00 We do not use this company to host our website and this is a scam. Looks very official. Will not be paying.

- Dallas, TX, USA

Received a dummy invoice that shows an account number, an invoice date, a due date and an amount due. The last message in the messages section states: "this is a solicitation for the orde rof goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or a statement of account due"

This company sent us a fake invoice for our url. We own our url through Go Daddy.

Received a bill in reference to yearly web hosting.

We received an invoice for a service we did not get from a vendor we have never heard of.

After searching online we discovered numerous people with the exact scam letter.

This scam invoice was addressed to the admin of the school.

Looks exactly like an actual invoice. What a bunch of frauds.

Deceptive invoice for immediate payment presented for yearly web hosting for $190.00. Includes phony account number, due date. Great care was taken to make the document appear to be a legitimate invoice, designed specifically to dupe unsuspecting AP clerk to authorize payment for an amount likely to avoid further approvals and inspection.

Web Host Agents sent an invoice marked DUE for $190. The line item due is "yearly web hosting." They do not host our website. In the fine print, the invoice states that it is "a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due." But it is very clearly a scam attempt. The fine print is not enough when the entire page IS an invoice.

It is quite clear that the distributor of this letter hoped we would pay the fraudulent fee. Luckily our accounting department checked with the marketing department before paying.

Web Host Agents sent us a letter marked as $180 amount due, for "yearly web hosting." They do not host our website. When I called the number on the letter, I found no way to talk to a live person. One option on the phone menu is a recorded message explaining that what I've received in the mail is not an invoice, but merely a solicitation for business.

In spite of it containing an admission that it's a solicition, it's clear that author of this letter hoped we would mistake their ad for an invoice and pay them the "amount due."

I received the attached document in the mail. It resembles a bill in the amount of $190.00 for my company's website. Had I simply logged on or called to pay this, which I'm sure a lot of people have fallen for, I would have lost that money. Buried in the fine print is this statement: "This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, not a bill, invoice, statement of account due." This deeply unethical practice relies on busy small business owners like me who diligently and unfortunately carelessly pay their bills on time. It's not right and not fair to small businesses. Please put a stop to them.

They send you a fake bill and it is not.
