We receive plenty of unsolicited garbage FAX, but this one was annoying. We manage our own DNS, and our services are handled by another company. Immediately recognizable to us, but I'm sure others will fall victim

We received an invoice by fax from Web Envy DNS for "Managed Domain Name Services". The invoice was made out under our brand name, not our legal business name. We have not used this company before for domain services. No where on the invoice did it indicate that this was a solicitation.

Bill was faxed to our school district. I, as the IT Director, was tasked with investigating this bill since it was computer/IT related. After several attempts at contacting said company with negative results, did research on the web. There I found others had the same thing happen. Reported to the Texas AG for further action. If you want to report, if Texas address, the AG's office number is 800-621-0508.

Received a fax via email to Heights Community School which is a Saint Paul Public School. I am familiar with these fake invoices and verified with our District office we do not do business with this company.

A fax was sent to our school requesting a 1 term renewal of our school's domain name for the amount of $344.25. The invoice stated that the amount could be paid online or via check.

A letter was sent that included invoice number, account numbers, and line items for domain name services for one year. They even included a discount of 15% to make it look like a deal. The website for payment seems to be down but entities may still potentially be scammed by mailing check. Verify with your IT team to make sure of your DNS provider as this is a very convincing letter.
