My girlfriend and I have been searching for a puppy. She wanted a Corgi so she found a website that, to her, appeared to be legitimate. She found a black and white Corgi named Orla and immediately sent a message to who she thought was the owner of the dog. They responded to her promptly after and was willing to work with her on the price. The man who was selling the puppy told us that we could put half of the amount down in a deposit and pay the rest at a later date. My girlfriend conducted most of the contact with this gentleman so some of the details may not be included but from what she was telling me, he seemed to be understanding and willing to work with us on the price. He requested that we send him the deposit over the app, "CashApp" and he told us to contact him on Friday when we would have the rest of the money for the deposit he asked for. We sent him the deposit and began to prepare our house for our new puppy. My girlfriend was so happy that she LITERALLY cried tears of joy because everything seemed to be working out. So Friday, today, comes and my girlfriend texts the man who does not respond for almost 3 hours. She wanted to text him to confirm everything before sending him more money. At this point, everything he said and told us started to unravel. We demanded the deposit back MULTIPLE times and even offered to pay more money in cash if I could meet him in person and pick up the dog. He kept ignoring the offer to pay in cash. He told us that when we send him the rest of the deposit he would send us a confirmation code then we would receive the dog in the mail. I reiterated my offer of paying more money in cash for an in person pick up but he kept ignoring that offer. My girlfriend and I are very upset that we could not welcome a new puppy in to our home. We spent $550 on supplies and the deposit for her. We also stayed up way past midnight preparing our Home for her. I am very disappointed and angry. It has been 3 hours and this man has not responded to our requests or messages. My girlfriend is currently at work and had had to excuse herself multiple times to go to the bathroom and call me to cry. We were so excited and now we only have $8 left in our account because of this scam.
