I was contacted about the resume I submitted to a job posted on Indeed.com. I initially was contacted by e-mail and asked to call them for a phone interview. I was told I would be put on a probationary period and at the end of 30 days would be given a check for $3,000 for the months work/training period. I would also be reimbursed mileage and expenses (packaging material, tape, etc). I had to provide them with a picture of my Driver's License and a picture of me holding the driver's license (so they could verify it was me and not someone impersonating me or stealing my identity). I was hired as a QI (Quality Inspector) where packages were shipped to my home or I went to a pick up location (Fed-Ex or UPS) to retrieve packages for inspection and verification that goods were in good condition, complete and correct. I would need to take pictures and upload them into their data base of the original ship label, packing slip and the contents. Once all was in order I requested a shipping label which I could then print out and sent the package back out via UPS or Fed-Ex. At the end of 30 days I was told that my new tasks would be assigned under a permanent employee id vs. the probationary/temp and would be transferred from 1099 to a regular W-2 EE. I followed up everyday for the next two days when I found my web credentials to their site no longer worked. I then began calling the only number I had; the one that I called for my initial hiring. It rang busy. I attempted to call this number numerous times for the next two days. I called again the third day and same. I then tried to call from a friends phone and the phone rang directly through. When it was answered I explained who I was and why I was calling. They immediately hung up. I have not been able to reach anyone again. I am out the mileage, materials and the originally agreed upon salary for the 30 days of work.
