Individuals are posting door hangers stating to call a number for a water update. When the number is called, the person on the other end of the line states there is a water quality issue and that the resident needs to buy an expensive water filter to correct the issue. We (GHID) are the water provider the the area (West Valley City area) and the information is blatantly false. FTC has been contacted for fraud related to inciting public panic.

This company impersonates the utility company Cal Water and targets new home owners. The person demands to check your water quality in order to sell you their services. Someone comes and knocks on your door with a badge and tells you they are with Cal Water. They demand for the water to be tested in order to later sell their services. Thy ask for personally identifiable information including names and the number of people living in the home.
