Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Just yesterday I received a check of $2,950 with two pages of instructions in the mail.
It says I should text them to let them know I received it and ready to deposit the check. So I did.
Other instruction was to go to USPS (they put USPS logo on the letters) and buy 3 separate money orders of $800 each and evaluate the attendant. Then they want me to mail those money orders to an address which my “supervisor” would provide later. I would get to keep $400 as commission and $89 to cover gas/transportation. It says if I submit my report back in 48hrs then I’d qualify for $300 Walmart gift card.
Eventhough I did deposit the check last night, I was a little suspicious and look it up and found out there’s just tons of scams happening with similar scenario. So this morning I checked and the check hasnt cleared yet, I called the bank and request them to cancel the process and put fraud alert on it.
The “supervisor” kept texting me all morning asking if the check has cleared, I just pretended it did, til he gave the address to mail the money orders to.
