the scammer identified. as a hiring manager for a work from home data entry analyst had me go thru an intensive hiring process asking all the right questions the company was legit then i was sent a check by ups overnighted the check the bank was legit based in tx. also, i was to deposit it and use the funds to get all the office supplies needed for the workload ie: mac book laptop, all the programs needed to operate correctly for the job i was to keep 150$ and send the rest to the company they use for the equipment payment. Microsoft teams was the platform they used and an\other email for when the check came to send the copy of deposit receipt to.

I received a text message as well as an email from a woman by the name of Nancy Thompson. She claimed that she was the Head admin for ULTRA CHEMICAL INC. and that she found my resume on careerbuilder. It was an online work from home position. There was a list of available positions, I chose customer service rep. She said the job pay was $37.09 an hour and training was $20 an hour. The interview they were going to conduct was through Microsoft teams and said STRICTLY TEXT CHAT. I did not proceed any further.

It was a data entry job that he said he would mail me a check to buy my equipment to get started and asked for my name street address ZIP code but no social security number or bank account information. He mailed me the check and when I tried to deposit the check it got declined by my bank and thus me knowing it was a scam. He said he worked for the company and I'd imagine if it went through he would be asking for my account information to get the money back.
