Due to the need for my Mother to be accepted in to a nursing facility, I needed a copy of her birth certificate quickly. Due to Covid, I was told that in person orders were not available. I went to the Vital Statistics websites, in haste, I clicked on the choice for “expedited delivery”. I put 55.00 on my credit card, 21.50 in check form to the State Treasurer. FIVE WEEKS LATER, I received a birth certificate without my mother’s first & middle name on it. I have called the number that my credit card statement read, a man said it was not their problem. After 4 calls, today to Cleveland & Columbus bureau, I was told to go to another website to order another certificate. It is embarrassing to be scammed in this manner, this second order charged 20.00 for shipping, it was from a website given by vital statistics in Cleveland, Ohio, total charge today was 59.00, & I’m not confident that they are legitimate either. Consumers beware. I feel terrible for others, especially the elderly.
