My son applied for an internship on handshake to this company. They reached out to him via email and asked him to join a Microsoft teams account. They then sent him a link for an interview. When he went into the interview it was fully virtual with questions regarding Data Analytics and even some tests to take. They also provided a link to the company website, facebook page and linked in account. He received an offer letter the next day. They then told him he needed to purchase some equipment and sent him a check for $2000 to pay for it. We told him to wait for the check to clear before proceeding. The bank flagged the check as well putting a hold on it. They wanted him to purchase the equipment through their company website reassuring him the check would clear. He told him he would have to wait. They have now become very aggressive and have been threatening legal action. He has blocked all contact and I have notified the bank. He thankfully had only shared his name, address, email and phone number.
