On 5/8/2025 I received a large postcard via postal mail that was very colorful and official-looking. It claimed to be from Viking, (a river/ocean cruise company) but there is no return address or email. It had two circles which, if I scratched off and the numbers matched the number printed on the card, I would win one of four prizes. Of course they matched.
I tried checking who owned the phone number and it DOES NOT MATCH the phone number on the official Viking Cruises website. Phone lookup services will charge you or demand you enroll in a "free trial" to get access to who owns the phone number, so I did not use them to get more information.
The fine print on the card says "Sponsor may disqualify any entry and may modify, terminate, or suspend this promotional giveaway in sponsor's sole discretion". Very convenient - especially if it's a scam. My parents always said, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
