Amount Duped: 21$ (not a big deal, I know, but clearly a scam)
-Overall, I thought I thought I was purchasing something worth 5.95, but I was mislead into purchasing $27.06 worth of merchandise. For a much longer version of what happened, here it is.
1. I received an e-mail from, what looked to be like, Home Depot, asking me to fill out a survey for a free prize (later, after reading the fine print, I realized the email was not affiliated with Home Depot, but it used an image of them)
2. I completed the survey, under the impression that I had won a free prize. It turned out that the 'free' prize was actually 5.95$ for earpods. I sort of got sort of duped into paying money for a 'free' prize, but I paid it.
3. Then, there were ambiguous messages with unclear information, telling me, on the one hand, that I could purchase other products, that I could proceed to check out.
-The products themselves, were strange. For example, the carrying case for the earpods was separate
-I did not indicate that I wanted to purchase those products (each was for a small amount), and clicked to proceed to checkout.
4. When in the checkout page, I saw my bill, and it appeared to me as though I would be sent those products (such as the case) for free, as the price was listed next to each product, but the amount I would be charged would be 0.00$.
5. So, thinking that I would only be charged for earpods, I approved the purchase.
6. After approving the purchase of, what I thought was, 5.95$, I saw that I had actually been charged 27.06$.
7. I called them to cancel, and after about 20 minutes on the phone with a representative, I was disconnected.
8. I called back, and was told that, only the 5$ had gone through, and the charge would be cancelled. However, the other products had not been charged, because these products were being shipped from different plants, and those plants had not processed the charge (in spite of the fact that I had already paid the money).
8a. He told me that, because these charges had not gone through, I should call back in one hour. (for the record, I asked him his name, which he told me was Rick, 10003)
-This made no sense to me, so I called my bank, verified that the charge had gone through, and then, one hour later, I called them back.
9. Upon calling them back, a representative told me that the other products had not been processed (again), but that I should call them back in 24-48 hours.
10. At this point, I made it clear that this was unacceptable. Only then did she tell me that she could refund me an additional 9$.
-As there was still money to be refunded, I asked to speak with her manager. She said he was busy, but directed me to a web page, vigorbluepods.com, where there would be an email address that would direct me to a manager.
11. Keeping her on the phone, I went to the website, and a message appeared: "This is a default webpage generated for
vigorbluepods.com by Plesk." -I told her what I saw. She then directed me to https://www.vigorlifegadgets.com/, and use the email address there ([email protected]).
12. To Conclude, I told her I did not believe what she had told me, and that I would contact my bank, dispute the charge, and they would initiate an investigation. I asked her, as a matter of curiosity, what occurred as a result of previous bank inquiries. She told me, at that time, I would have the money refunded. I contacted my bank, they indicated I would get the refund.
