Vicco Web LLC Reports & Reviews (22)

Received a bill from this company for 'Yearly Shared Web Hosting" for our website. We do not use this company. We have an IT company that does our website hosting.

Fake invoice received for services that weren’t requested or desired.

This scammer sends what they like to call 'direct marketing' in the format of an invoice in order to get the unsuspecting target to provide their credit card number or bank account information. The top portion is made out so that it appears you already have an account with them (they provide a fake account number), and there is a due date next to the payment amount of $180. Directly under this portion of the statement, they use wording on their invoice-formatted letter that makes it sound like access to the business's website will be terminated if they do not pay Vicco Web LLC. This is a quote from their statement: "Failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration date may result in website outages and a loss of your online identity, making it difficult for your customers to reach you on the web." I understand the legal loopholes they think they are operating in here with their deceptive and intimidating 'marketing' statements, but this practice is horrible and dancing on the line of illegality and I'm sure the CFPB would not look kindly on these tactics. For what it's worth, I did try to contact them via phone during business hours and it was of no surprise to me that there was no one unavailable to take my call.

I received a bill for $180 due 1/22/2021 for renewal of web hosting. It all looked legitimate to my secretary and since I had changed hosting services two years ago my secretary thought with Covid-19 that perhaps they had merged or changed names. She was about to pay when she asked me about it and I thought to check for ScamPulse.com complaints and found this was a scam played on other businesses as well. Even if they do offer a hosting service I would never do business with a scam artist business like Vicco that does this sort of business tactics. While the invoice did indicate that it was a solicitation at the bottom of the text, the person who pays the bills was about to pay and only because I walked in at the time she was about to pay that she asked me the question.

Our business received an invoice for "Yearly Web Hosting" for our website. The business is not our website host. The format of the letter implies that it is an invoice for services rendered, but a more careful read reveals the language, "now is the time to transfer your web hosting from your current provider to Vicco Web LLC," but this is buried in a paragraph warning that, "Failure to renew your web hosting by the expiration date may result in website outages and a loss of your online identity." This is incredibly (and obviously, deliberately) misleading.

The letter does include the sentence, "This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice or statement of account due," but the format and warnings strongly imply otherwise and are clearly intended to trick the recipient.

The target of the scam was our small nonprofit organization. Early in January 2021, we received by postal mail what appeared to be a bill from Vicco Web LLC in Tampa, FL for "yearly web hosting" that listed our website URL. Deep in the text, it states, "THIS IS A SOLICITATION FOR THE ORDER OF GOODS OR SERVICES, OR BOTH, AND NOT A BILL, INVOICE, OR STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT DUE." But for all other appearances, it looks like a bill. Totally misleading, and I feel lucky we caught it. No one should be allowed to do this.

We have a website that requires annual hosting. We received mail that looked like an invoice from Vicco. We were just getting ready to send a check and then decided that this did not look right. After some research, we found out that they have a pattern of this false invoicing.

I received a billing in the amount of $180 for web hosting from this company, and this company has nothing to do with my web hosting. I have no idea how this company got my name and address unless they are sending these billing invoices out to every business in the U.S.

My current web hosting company said there are several complaints on this company pulling this scam and to file a complaint immediately against this company for a deceptive mailing scam. This email filing is my confirmation that I am filing a claim against this company for deception and business fraud!

I would suggest eliminating all virtual offices to prevent future issues similar or the same. A business should be required to have brick and mortar buildings to operate out of and be licensed as well. All businesses should be required to file an annual report with their local governing body where they are required to pay an annual renewal license fee.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter,

As others have stated, we received an invoice for "annual web services". We have never heard of or done business with this "company". Obviously a scam business!

The company mailed us a paper that looked like an invoice with an actual account number on it.

When I called to ask questions about the bill and their services, the person on the other end told me this was a sales solicitation and not a bill and to just disregard.

The paper looks very much like an invoice.

It seems misleading as it has an account number, with a due date.

I received the attached document that looks like a bill/invoice. It provides a due date at the top, with an account number to make it look like we have an account with this company. We recently changed web hosting companies so I confirmed with them that they did not change their name.

This is a scam. This company is sending out letters to businesses in hopes that someone will mess up and pay them. Whether that means anything other than that, I don't know. But sending this out to small, non-profit organizations is not ok.

This was a fake invoice. I called the company and they made up a pitiful excuse that it must have been a mistake.

The item listed was : Yearly Web Hosting with my web address. I use a completely unrelated service provider and I have never heard of this company.

They send what looks like an invoice for your yearly web hosting, which is not through them. They have a notice of fine print that says "This is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice, or statement of account due," despite it clearly trying to pass itself off as exactly a "bill, invoice, or statement of account due." These people are purposely preying on people or businesses and using scare tactics to try and get them to pay them for something under the pretense that they already own it, which they don't. It's a completely garbage scam tactic that might technically be legal but really, really, should be illegal and frankly should see the owners fined, jailed, or both.

Per US Mail received, 09-02-2020, from Vicco Web LLC invoice for web hosting - $180.00. Vicco does NOT host anything for me.

I received a fake invoice as others have explained. It's for $180 for web hosting services. I've never worked with this company or contacted them in any way. The invoice looks real until you start reading all the fine print. An absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional way to promote business.

I received a fake invoice for web hosting services for my business. The total listed on the "invoice" is $180.00. The due date for payment is 9/1/2020. The "account" number is 38939917. The company appears to be located in Grand Rapids, MI. Only after you read the fine print under the 3rd bullet point do they explain "This is a soclitiation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice or statement of account due." Scam, false invoice, fake advertising.

A solicitation was sent to me at my place of business for web hosting service, disguised as an invoice/bill for services, complete with a 'due date' and 'account number'. This is clearly a way to scam people into paying for something they don't currently have or want.

- Germanton, NC, USA

I received a document that appeared to be an invoice but I didn't recognize the name of the company. Through a little digging I found out the this is a scam.

They sent an invoice with our business address, a bogus account number, how to pay for it and everything. It has on the bottom that it is not a bill, but if a person sent in the payment they would be signed up for the service. They should not be allowed to do this type of fraudulent and misleading activity.

- Dearborn, MI, USA

Received a fake invoice in the mail for $180.00. It looks like a real invoice with a request to pay and send payment to the address or submit a credit card for payment. In the middle of the letter, it says it is a solicitation. Very deceiving.
