I called what I thought was the Verizon home internet support phone number 855-748-1635 which was in my phone contact list for Verizon. I had called this same number several years ago to assist me with home internet repair. The person who answered said his name was Robert. He had an Asian Indian accent. He wanted all the standard information name address phone number email ..

. Which I gave him to identify myself and my account. then he asked me for my birthday which now I realize I should not have given him. He asked me for my credit card number which I started to give him but stopped. The person kept telling me he needed all this information to verify my account and so I wouldn't have to give all this information next time. I got caught up in the wave... I needed help with my internet but then I thought why do you need my credit card number. I didn't think I needed to pay for this call for help from Verizon. I told him I would give him my last four of the credit card number and he could check what information he had but he said he needed the whole number. I finally came to my senses and hung up on him. I have since cancelled that credit card.
