I received an email from "[email protected]" about an attempt to access my account from another location, and to change my password if this was not me. Then I immediately received a phone call from the NY area, claiming to be from the venmo team. I couldn't hear her very well, but she said something about closing my account because a large transaction had been made and the only way to stop it would be to close the account via the phone? Or something, it was very similar to that. I looked on my app and saw there were no pending transactions, then told her I'd just change my password on my app, but thanks anyway, and she said "have a blessed day" and hung up on me. I'm unsure if the [email protected] email was legitimate (maybe these scammers track which accounts get these emails?) but I just thought I'd include as many details as I could.
